What We Value

What We Value

We have six core values that guide us.  These values are derived from what Jesus declared as the two greatest commandments:

“Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?  Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”"
-Matthew 22:36-39

AutHENTICITY

We will endeavor to live as an authentic biblical community of real people who support and love each other through life’s trials and joys.

“They spent their time learning from the apostles, and they were like family to each other.  They broke bread  together in different homes and shared their food happily and freely, while praising God. Everyone liked them, and each day the Lord added to their group others who were being saved.”
-Acts 2:42 & 46-47

“Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.”
-Ephesians 4:2

“Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself. Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.”
-Galatians 6:1-2

“We who are strong must be considerate of those who are sensitive about things like this. We must not just please ourselves. We should help others do what is right and build them up in the Lord.
-
Romans 15:1

“So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”
-John 13:34-35

INTEGRITY
In a culture where it doesn’t seem to matter.  We will focus on Godly character in all that we do.

“And you yourself must be an example to them by doing good works of every kind. Let everything you do reflect the integrity and seriousness of your teaching.”
-Titus 2:7

“Always let others see you behaving properly, even though they may still accuse you of doing wrong. Then on the day of judgment, they will honor God by telling the good things they saw you do.”
1 Peter 2:12

“…Teach believers with your life: by word, by demeanor, by love, by faith, by integrity.”
-1 Timothy 4:12

SERVICE
We will purpose to walk in love by giving ourselves in service to others as we were created by God to do.

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. ”
-Ephesians 4:10

“God has given each of you a gift from His great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.
-1 Peter 4:10-11

“Throw yourselves into the work of the Master, confident that nothing you do for Him is a waste of time or effort.”
-1 Corinthians 15:58

“For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.”
-Galatians 5:13

“But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must become your slave. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
-Matthew 20:26-28

EXCELLENCE
Whether it is worship, teaching, fellowship or service, we will seek to do all things with excellence.

“And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.”
-Colossians 3:17

“But we must each be careful how we build, because Christ is the only foundation. Whatever we build on that foundation will be tested by fire on the day of judgment. Then everyone will find out if we have used gold, silver, and precious stones, or wood, hay, and straw.”
-1 Corinthians 3:10-15

“So don’t lose a minute in building on what you’ve been given, complementing your basic faith with good character, spiritual understanding, alert discipline, passionate patience, reverent wonder, warm friendliness, and generous love, each dimension fitting into and developing the others.”
-2 Peter 1:5-7

DISCERNMENT
We will not only know the Word of God, but also the God of the Word.  We believe that Scripture (not the word of man) is the final authority on all spiritual matters.

“The entirety of Your word is truth, And every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever. ”
-Psalm 119:160

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.”
-2 Timothy 3:16

“…but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.”
-Daniel 11:32

“Oh, that we might know the Lord!  Let us press on to know Him.  He will respond to us as surely as the arrival of dawn or the coming of rains in early spring.”
-Hosea 6:3

“For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before His eyes, and He is the One to whom we are accountable.”
-Hebrews 4:12-13

GIVING
As a body we will commit to giving to expand the Kingdom of Heaven. The first part of all of our giving income will go to bless other ministries.

“Let the eagerness you showed in the beginning be matched now by your giving. Give in proportion to what you have. Whatever you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly. And give according to what you have, not what you don’t have.
-2 Corinthians 8:11-14

“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
-2 Corinthians 9:6-7

“Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be poured into your lap.  For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”
-Luke 6:38
